Abstract
The Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia AWGS reported the first edition in 2014 and the revised sarcopenia diagnostic criteria in 2019. In Japan, it is recommended to use this AWGS2019 to determine sarcopenia. With this criterion, it is possible to judge sarcopenia using indicators such as muscle strength, physical function, and skeletal muscle mass. In clinical practice, it is desirable to judge sarcopenia while paying attention to underestimation and overestimation, taking into consideration the restrictions when measuring these indicators.
