Abstract
Forty-eight ethanol extracts of medicinal plants reportedly used in the Traditional Medicine of Baja California Sur were tested for their effects on rabbit jejunal smooth muscle contractility. Thirty-five extracts (73%) showed some response and thirteen (27%) none. The most active was an extract of Brugmansia suaveolens (Datura suaveolens), a member of the Solanaceae family.
