The International Association of Applied Psychology

Abstract

This chapter reaffirms the importance of applied psychology for society in general and for the world as a whole. It shares some thoughts about the perspectives of applied psychology for the future and the possibilities of new developments during the coming years, insisting on the role of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) itself and on its missions. The IAAP is organized around divisions focusing on specific social concerns. Among the 18 divisions composing the IAAP, 13 that were first created are good examples of the various fields within which one can apply psychology and provide responses, help, and prevention for many persons and groups within society. The IAAP aims to contribute to reaching both gender equality and high-quality education for all in peaceful and inclusive societies with justice. Studies in applied psychology have shown to contribute to changing behaviors in order to reduce climate change and develop sustainable ecosystems.
