The rise of Democrat Joseph Biden to the presidency of the United States in 2021 represents the beginning of a new era with multiple implications that it is pertinent to analyze. This article examines the changes in the US domestic and foreign policy approach in the transition from Trump to Biden. Likewise, the perspectives of the US relationship with Mexico in the Biden era from a national and sub-national level are analyzed. The main thesis is that the Joe Biden administration marks a remarkable change from the Trump administration. Notable changes include the federal government’s strategy to deal with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic; while a notable shift in foreign policy issues such as migration, environment and security is perceived, which will bring more advantages than disadvantages for Mexico.
