Abstract

This study aims to describe the translation and cross-cultural adaptation procedures of the Caregiver's Feeding Styles Questionnaire (CFSQ) for the Brazilian context. To ensure the procedural quality, five steps were performed: 1. translation of the instrument from the source language to the target language; 2. synthesis of the translated versions; 3. expert/target audience evaluation; 4. reverse translation, and 5. pilot study. We sought to ensure the translation and adaptation properties of the CFSQ semantically and idiomatically, with experiential and conceptual equivalence between the items in the original language and the target language. The internal consistency analysis of the questionnaire indicated instrument accuracy. The results pointed to initial evidence of the instrument’s adequacy in evaluating caregiving styles present during infant feeding in the target population.
