Abstract

Highlights Strong global coupling can efficiently suppress the dispersion of resonances. Delicate modulation of resonance mode density and intrinsic loss of acoustic systems enables effective manipulation of global coupling. An established theoretical model reveals the physical mechanism of the global coupling in timbre modulation. A meta-silencer supporting intensive mode density and highly tunable intrinsic loss achieves designable timbre.
