Abstract

Strategic planning guides organizations to the achievement of their objectives and allows them to coherently address the problems that may arise along the way. The objective of this research was to adapt the bases of strategic planning to the implementation of long-term digital preservation projects. For this purpose, a documentary study was carried out, then a content analysis was applied to establish similarities and differences between strategic planning models, analyzing their applicability to long-term digital preservation projects. Its main results are the process for digital preservation planning, which consists of the formulation, implementation and evaluation of the strategy. In addition, it derives the comparison of strategic planning models, the process for digital preservation, the fundamental principles of strategic planning which are audit, strategy and risk management, at the same time, it proposes the standard strategic objectives based on ISO 16363 characteristics.
