Abstract

The problem of student indiscipline is something that often occurs in every class. This can be seen when the author practices in one of the schools in West Jakarta. The fact found is that grade 4 students (7 girls and 11 boys) have not been able to discipline the class rules that have been mutually agreed. Such as: playing alone, disturbing friends, noisy, not listening to instructions well during the learning process. In this case, the role of the teacher is very necessary in order to help students return to obey class rules so that learning can run conducively. The role of teachers that has been carried out to discipline students is through reinforcement by providing reprimands, advice, and eye contact. As for students who are disciplined, teachers provide reinforcement in the form of awards by saying good job, one clap, or thank you. Instilling this discipline is very important so that students can learn to obey because obedience is one of the characteristics that must be possessed by students. The purpose of this study is to explain the role of teachers in disciplining students through reinforcement. The result of this study is the role of teachers through reinforcement to discipline students, among others: the author provides positive reinforcement in the form of good job, one clap, and gratitude for students who obey and discipline during the teaching and learning process. Suggestions for future research teachers must be more consistent and assertive in providing reinforcement on thematic learning. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method, using data sources from classroom observations, mentor teacher feedback, and teaching reflection.
