Risk scenarios for business continuity in travel agencies

Abstract

The study is based on analyzing the context and scenarios that pose risks to the business continuity in travel agencies, examining their causes to establish actions aimed at addressing risks and opportunities. The research relies on the deductive method, involving drawing general conclusions to derive specific explanations. The research type is descriptive, aiming to specify the properties and characteristics of processes subjected to analysis. As part of the results of the analysis carried out on the travel agencies of five South American countries, it is necessary to determine the external and internal issues in order to represent the processes that comprise them, through the analysis of the environment and analysis of the chain. of value in these processes, which constitute the exogenous and endogenous dimensions, respectively. The findings and conclusions reveal that political uncertainty and the lack of consensus in the region discourage investment and create instability in the tourism sector. Additionally, social polarization and advancements or stagnations in technology influence the demand for services and the operational methods of agencies. Furthermore, weaknesses affecting competitiveness and productivity were identified, such as a lack of strategic planning, the need for a robust customer database, a lack of comparative information on consumption trends, absence of integrated systems with suppliers, and poor communication with key partners, among others.
