Abstract

Growth rates for Asterionella formosa, Stephanodiscus hantzschii, Scenedesmus sp., Cryptomonas ozolini and Anabaena flos-aquae in media ranging in pH from 5.0-7.5 using 3 zwitterionic buffers, MES, PIPES, and TES, were determined. For pH values <6.0 no growth occurred or growth rates were significantly reduced in some treatment groups for all species except Cryptomonas. -from Authors
