Abstract
In this study, submerged arc welding powders containing ferroniobium and ferroboron at four different rates combined with S1 welding wires subjected to the welding test with the aim of hardfacing on SAE 1020 steel surface. As a results of welding tests, microstructure, hardness and wear properties of hardfacings were investigated. With an increase in amounts of ferroniobium and ferroboron in welding powders, both percentage of boride structure located in hardfacing microstructure were increased, and the hardness increased. Therefore, the wear losses decreased. The highest hardness result was determined with the hardfacing obtained from the welding powder containing %12 ferroniobium and %10 ferroboron as 48 HRC, the lowest hardness result was determined with the hardfacing obtained from the welding powder containing %3 ferroniobium and %2,5 ferroboron as 41 HRC.
