Abstract

This paper describes a modification to the method for attaching patagial tags, which increases tag durability and reduces callousing and feather abrasion. Breeding success of wing-tagged Herring Gulls was similar to that found in earlier studies of untagged birds at the same colony. Estimates of adult mortality and pairing change rates are presented and discussed, but comparable data for untagged birds are not available. © 1987 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
