Abstract

This article aims to analyze culinary names in Aceh. StudyIt uses natural semantic metalanguage theory. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. In collecting data, interviews and observations were used. The results of the study show that there are three ways that the Acehnese people give culinary names, namely based on place, cooking utensils, and color. Culinary names in Aceh have denotative or connotative meanings. The difference between the meanings of culinary names can be seen from the thoughts behind them. Paraphrasing culinary meanings can provide an understanding of the use of culinary names in Aceh.
