SISTEM SAPAAN KEKERABATAN DALAM BAHASA GALELA PADA MASYARAKAT KECAMATAN GALELA BARAT KABUPATEN HALMAHERA UTARA

Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the kinship greeting system and describe the use of kinship greetings in the Galela language in the community of West Galela District, North Halmahera Regency. This study uses qualitative methods by relying on content analysis techniques. The content in the content analysis technique consists of two kinds, namely latent content and communication content carried out in West Galela District, North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku province, namely in Duma Village, Soatobaru Village, and Gothalamo Village on the grounds that the community groups in this village are still thick with a life that is guided by the values of local wisdom, both in relation to the value of politeness, the value of trust (fortitude), and high social values. The values of wisdom are seen in kinship based on lineage as well as in marital relationships. The results of the research on the kinship greeting system in the West Galela community are in the form of kinship greeting words based on lineage and kinship greeting words based on marriage lines. The kinship greeting system based on blood relations is in the form of greeting words used to greet people who are related by blood, while the kinship greeting system based on the line of marriage is in the form of greeting words used to greet people who have a marital relationship. The kinship greeting system used in the Galela language is determined by the culture of patrilineal descent or the culture of greeting according to the father's lineage.
