Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the current configuration of a bicycle structure built in Campo Grande (MS). Methodology: A case study was developed in the city of Campo Grande (MS), through the application of the QualICiclo index. The primary dataset was collected using the bikethrought mode, recording field notes mounted on a bicycle. Finally, the triangulation analysis allowed the understanding of the investigated phenomenon through the association of the stages of the biographical survey, field research and also the application of the index. Originality/Relevance: The growing population increase in urban environments puts pressure on public managers and society to overcome challenges, such as urban mobility. In this sense, the occurrence of congestion, air pollution and urban stress has repositioned the bicycle as an alternative mode capable of reducing the damage caused by the excessive use of motor vehicles in cities. Results: In the infrastructures built in the city, potentialities were highlighted, in terms of providing comfort characteristics, and weaknesses, in relation to the safety and connection of cycle structures, in the current conditions regarding bicycle mobility in the city. Social/management contributions: This study made it possible to point out suggestions for continuous improvements to public managers and urban planners, regarding the search for smart and sustainable urban mobility.
