Abstract
A procedure is given for the preparation of β-MnSe by precipitation from solution. The cubic B3 zinc blende type structure has a unit cell dimension of 5.88 ± 1 Å. The magnetic susceptibility obeys the Curie–Weiss law above 110 °K with C = 3.64 ± 14 and θ = 444 ± 13, equivalent to an effective moment of 5.40 μ B .
