Abstract

It is proposed that the covariance matrix and the inner product matrix of Frechét kernels be diagonalized simultaneously to provide greater flexibility and numerical stability in solving inverse problems and calculating tradeoff curves. The transformation that performs the simultaneous diagonalization is given. The simplified calculations for tradeoff curves are presented. Copyright © 1971, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
