OS ESTUDOS DE CLIMA URBANO E O SEU DESENVOLVIMENTO NA CIDADE DO RECIFE - PE: CAMPOS DE ESTUDO, TÉCNICAS DE INVESTIGAÇÃO E PERSPECTIVAS FUTURAS

Abstract

In this paper, the objective is to discuss the evolution of Urban Climate studies both in concepts and application for the city of Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco (Brazil) and, thus, collaborate with the understanding of the history of these studies and with theoretical and methodological perspectives for future research. The discussions raised presented the themes of urban climate involving the city of Recife until today, pointing out their main authors. Therefore, the challenges outlined for future studies include developing means for applicability in urban planning; understanding the urban effect on pluviometric precipitation; refining the urban effect observations; overcoming the lack of observation points; and developing integrative approaches to urban climate and climate change. Since such challenges are also true in other cities, especially in developing countries, this article is an invitation to those who intend to research this theme, having as locus of investigation not only Recife, but also other Brazilian cities that share similar historical processes of urban expansion, thus, avoiding systematic ignorance of the history of climate studies.No presente artigo, tem-se o objetivo de discutir a evolução dos estudos de Clima Urbano, tanto conceitualmente quanto à sua aplicação na cidade do Recife, capital do estado de Pernambuco, e, assim, colaborar com a compreensão da história desses estudos e das perspectivas teóricas e metodológicas para pesquisas futuras. As discussões levantadas apresentaram os temas abordados envolvendo a cidade do Recife até a atualidade, apontando seus principais autores. Diante disso, os desafios traçados para os estudos futuros envolvem desenvolver meios para a aplicabilidade no planejamento urbano; a compreensão do efeito urbano na precipitação pluviométrica; o refinamento das observações do efeito urbano; a superação da falta de pontos de observação; e o desenvolvimento de abordagens integrativas entre o clima urbano e as mudanças climáticas. Visto que tais desafios também são realidade em outras cidades, sobretudo de países em desenvolvimento, este artigo é um convite àqueles que pretendem pesquisar sobre esse tema, tendo como lócus de investigação não apenas Recife, mas também outras cidades brasileiras que compartilham de processos históricos similares de expansão urbana, evitando-se, assim, o desconhecimento sistemático da história dos estudos climáticos.
