Abstract

Ph3P, Ph3As, Ph3Sb, and Ph3Bi reacted with PhCH:CH2 in the presence of Pd(OAc)2 to give trans-stilbene (I). Ph3N reacted with PhCH:CH2 to give trans-4-(Ph2N)C6H4CH:CHPh. In the formation of I, the order of reactivity was Ph3As > Ph3Sb ≃ Ph3N > Ph3Bi > Ph3N. [on SciFinder(R)]
