Abstract

Octopus vulgaris drills shelled molluscs and measurements showed the radula to be too large to reach into the depths of the holes made. Small teeth were found on the salivary papilla and its seems likely that these are used for excavating the deeper parts of the holes and penetration of the shell. Copyright © 1979, Wiley Blackwell.
