La notion de trajectoire en géographie, une clé pour analyser les mobilités ?

Abstract

Cet article se propose de présenter la notion de trajectoire qui  permet de fonder une nouvelle approche des questions migratoires en géographie. A travers nos terrains nous comparons les invariants et les différences entre les deux couples migratoires majeurs de la Caraïbe : Les Cubains de Miami et les Haïtiens de Santo Domingo. L’idée de trajectoire  permet d’aborder les mobilités en rapport avec les trois piliers qui sous-tendent notre analyse : espace, société et pouvoir. L’étude de ces deux trajectoires caribéennes permet alors de souligner l’importance des cadres géopolitiques et des discours dominants qui préexistent à l’ancrage et à l’insertion des migrants.This article explores the concept of trajectory which leads to a new approach of the migratory issues in geography. Through our field studies we look at both invariants and differences between the two major migratory groups of the Caribbean region: the Cubans of Miami and the Haitians of Santo Domingo. The concept of trajectory allows us to analyse migrations from the perspective of the three underlying issues supporting our analysis: space, society and power. The study of these two trajectories emphasizes the importance of the geopolitical framework and the dominant voices in the process of immigrant’s integration.
