A new species of the genus policordia (Bivalvia, Verticordioidea, Lyonsiellidae) from off the coast of southern California

Abstract

A new species, Policordia hispida, is described and compared with three similar species: P. densicostata (Locard, 1898); P. pilula (Pelseneer, 1911) and a yet undescribed species, Policordia sp. (= P. pilula sensu Ivanova, 1977 not Pelseneer, 1911). This is a first record for the genus in the Californian province.
