Abstract

Gambling has existed throughout human history, evolving from ancient customs to the sophisticated online platforms we know today. The human fascination with chance and the possibility of quick wins has existed for centuries, but with the advent of the Internet and digital technology, gambling has reached a whole new level. As these platforms grow, so does the debate about their social, economic and psychological consequences. In this article we will analyze the origins of online gambling, its development in Spain, the risks of abuse and its harmful effects on university students.
