Abstract

The article discusses the creation and implementation of prison nurseries in American female prisons as of 2015, and it mentions the impacts of such nursery programs on incarcerated mothers and their infant children, as well as potential U.S. constitutional law-related challenges to prison nurseries. The Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses in the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution are examined, along with incarceration rates and the history of America's prison system.
