Abstract

Pulau Dua Natural Reserve is an unique original ecosystem of mangrove having rich of mangrove vegetations and important roles of birds habitat. The existence of this nature preservation is mainly to protect the mangrove ecosystem in order to maintain birds habitat and bird species diversity. The preservation is also aimed to increase local and migrant birds population. For that reasons, the mangrove ecosystem is necessarily to be managed properly for present and future generation. There are some threats of the existing ecosystem mangrove. The main disturbances of the ecosystem come from sea abration, hunting, fuelwood source of local people, and unmanaged rubbish bin. These local people activities are gradually increase and in turn significantly contribute on degradation of the mangrove ecosystem and its functions.
