Abstract
The development and invention of the combustion engine is one of the greatest achievements of modern technology, even more the development and invention of the car. However, a large number of cars used throughout the world have problems and continue to cause serious impacts on the environment and human life. Air pollution, global warming, and depletion of oil resources are considered to be aserious problem. For these problems, University of Indonesia are developing electric conversion vehicles. Electric car is driven by an electric motor, using electrical energy stored in batteries or other energy storage. The methodology used in this study includes measurement of temperature, power and also character analysis of lead acid batteries. Battery capacity testing was tested for 600 minutes and got a voltage drop of 3.84 volts from 12.34 volts. The thermal ability of lead acid batteries is not recommended if it used with heavy loads, because the temperature will rise above 40°C exceeding the recommended temperature which ranges from 20°C - 25°C which can reduce the battery life and capacity. Temperature increase can affect battery performance, the ability to accommodate energy capacity, and battery life.
