Abstract

The location of emitter by passive sensor arrays has received considerable attention in recent years. It is important in Electronic Warfare (EW) system. To solve the problems of a passive location method based on broadcast & television signals, this paper proposes a novel locating approach mainly based on Blind Source Separation (BSS). It realizes the signal separation, echo extraction, and estimation of time difference in strong direct wave environments. By the combination of the Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation, the location issue can be transferred into the time difference & direction location, and therefore a high precision can be obtained. The implementation of this passive location method is simple and computationally efficient. The simulations show that the novel passive location approach based on the BSS method is efficient and feasible. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
