Abstract
This article discusses the sociocultural and historical forms of the construction of spaces in the town of Huara in the province of Tamarugal Tarapacá Region. The aim is to analyze from the disciplines of history, anthropology and cultural geography such as space and public and private places have created a cultural imprint that characterizes this region of the Atacama Desert, to differentiate them from other human settlements in a series of historical contexts that iniciate the saltpetre cycle, then reconfigured into a site adjacent to the North Panameri-can Highway.
