Clinical trials

Abstract

This discussion is an introduction to six series of articles aimed at examining the use of clinical trials related to medical devices with a view to defining the limits of this scientific tool. It is emphasized that although clinical trials are very useful for determining the safety and effectiveness of medical devices, there are dangers inherent in their use. Nevertheless, there are several approaches already available that can be used to minimize the inherent dangers.
