Michel foucault na imprensa Brasileira durante a ditadura militar - os "cães de guarda", os "nanicos" e o jornalista radical

Abstract

As part of the research "Michel Foucault in Brazil: presence, effects and resonances", the ways the philosopher appeared in both mainstream media and in the alternative press are focused. We privileged Foucault's visit to Brazil in 1975 and, more briefly, in 1976. In the first case, a special emphasis is given to the conduct of Foucault when the journalist Vladimir Herzog was murdered in the basements of the military dictatorship. In the second case, the monitoring carried out on the philosopher by the intelligence services is emphasized, as well as the role of the alternative press, notably the anarchist one, in the divulgation of his lectures and thoughts. Although Foucault had never written a particular work about media, his conception of philosophy as radical journalism is put in connection with such events in an attempt to articulate historical narrative and criticism of the present.
