Abstract

Because of its favorable price/performance index, polysulfone (PBU) occupies a leading position among the high-temperature thermoplastics. Use of the material is expected to increase greatly in the future. PSU has many advantages over conventional engineering plastics, including greater stiffness and strength at high temperatures, reduced tendency to creep, very good hydrolytic stability, and favourable burning behaviour. That the development potential of PSU is by no means exhausted is exemplified by a range of novel products and applications. For figures and literature see German text p 1146-1149
