Abstract

Social media can affect the behavior of its users, from good influence to bad influences. The impact of both social media is supporting to foster interest in learning, seeking information about education, while easily accessing social media and lack of supervision in using social media can lead to abuse in accessing social media, among accessing pornographic sites. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social media exposure on dating behavior in adolescents in Tegal City 5 High School. This research is analytic survey research. The research design used in this study was cross sectional with a research population of high school 5 students in Tegal City class XII with 175 respondents. The sample used was 64 respondents obtained using simple random sampling sampling technique. The results of this study Exposure to social media largely impacted on the negative behavior of 79 respondents (79.8%). Dating status Most of the respondents had dated 73 respondents (73.3%). The dating style has 18 respondents who have kissed (18.2%), 11 respondents who have made love with their partners (11.1%) and there are 1 respondent who has had sexual relations with their partners (1%). Dating behavior carried out by students, most of the students who had a relationship (courtship) had risky behavior 77 respondents (77.8%). Chi Square test obtained p value 0.039, which means that there is a significant relationship between exposure to social media and dating behavior in class XII students of SMAN 5 Tegal City.
