Abstract

Part of a special issue on thinkers on education. Janusz Korczak's educational philosophy is outlined. Janusz Korczak, one of the most important figures in contemporary pedagogy, was a doctor by education and an educator by predilection. His desire to improve the reality he observed led him to the fields of writing and journalism. He most highly valued the happiness of children and their happy, unimpeded development.
