Abstract
The article presents the comments of the author on the official response to Hurricane Katrina in the U.S. The author claims that government officials failed to address properly the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina because they lacked experience and guidelines to meet the needs of large displaced populations. According to the author, international disaster relief organizations have vast experience in coping with the movement of large populations.
