Abstract
Alloys with higher manganese and lower carbon compositions exhibit both alpha prime and epsilon prime martensites, while those with lower manganese and higher carbon compositions exhibit mainly alpha prime martensites. The alpha prime martensites are observed in epsilon prime martensite plates as well as in the gamma matrix. The morphological change can be attributed to some change of stacking fault energy.
