The electrical conductivity of MgS and SrS has been measured at temperatures from 973 to 1223 K and pressures from 10** minus **1**0 to 10**4 Pa. Because conductivity was independent of sulfur pressure in the low pressure range, it is concluded that MgS and SrS may be ionic conductors. In the high pressure range, the specific conductivity of both sulfides increases with an increase in pressure, suggesting positive hole conduction.
