Abstract
The article aims to discuss the actions of the trade union movement with regard to the policies that have affected employment and unemployment in Workers' Party-run governments. The framework of the analysis is the debate on trade union revitalization, particularly its economic and political dimensions. The article performs an inventory of union actions, mobilizations and statements on economic policy, arranged in three distinct periods. Based on this analysis, it is stated that, despite multiple initiatives by the national trade union confederations, these didn't result in structural changes to the model of development.
