MODERN VE POSTMODERN KENT

Abstract

Modernizm ve postmodernizm, toplumsal yaşamın hemen her alanına nüfuz eden akımlar olarak öne çıkmıştır. İçerisinde toplumsal yaşamın şekillendiği, yaşamsal faaliyetlerin devam ettiği kentler de bu iki akımın etkisini üzerlerinde taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, modern–postmodern kent kıyası amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda öncelikle, modernizm ve postmodernizm kavramları incelenerek iki kavramın karşılaştırılması yoluna gidilmiştir. Çalışmanın ilerleyen kısmında ise, modernizmin ve postmodernizmin, yapısal, toplumsal açılardan kent üzerinde oluşturduğu etki, örnekler üzerinden değerlendirilmiştir. Postmodern kentin, modern kentin inşa ettiği; düzen, tek düzelik, homojenite, nesnellik, belirlilik ve ilerleme gibi kabullerle uyuşmadığı tespit edilmiştir.Modernism and postmodernism have come to the fore as trends that have penetrated almost every area of social life. Cities in which social life is shaped and vital activities continue also carry the effects of these two movements. In this study, a modern–postmodern city comparison is aimed. In this direction, first of all, the concepts of modernism and postmodernism have been examined, and the comparison of the two concepts has been made. In the following part of the study, the impact of modernism and postmodernism on the city from structural and social perspectives has been evaluated through examples. It has been determined that postmodern city does not correspond to the assumptions that modern city has built, such as order, uniformity, homogeneity, objectivity, definiteness, and progress.
