Abstract

The aim of this study is to adapt the Self-consciousness Scale (Mittal & Balasubramanian, 1987) to Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties. Participants were 740 university students from Sakarya University. In this study firstly, the language equivalency between English and Turkish forms were tested. After that exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Internal consistency coefficients, and test-retest reliabilities, corrected item-total correlations and t-tests between items' means of upper 27%-lover 27% points of the Turkish form were examined. Results showed that the scale called Self-consciosness Scale as a valid and reliable instrument can be used in the fields of psychology and education.
