Abstract
An article by Anjum et al. in the December 2013 issue of GENETICS can be used to illustrate reverse genetic manipulation in a model organism, targeted RNA interference, synergistic gene interaction, and biochemical regulation of gene expression using posttranslational modification. This Primer provides background information, technical explanations of methods and genetic approaches from the study, an example approach for classroom use, and discussion questions to promote understanding of the research article. © 2014 by the Genetics Society of America.
