Education of Additional Feeding Based on Local Materials for Stunting Toddlers with Animation Media

Abstract

Wrong eating patterns, insufficient food availability and not getting balanced nutrition can cause stunting in toddlers. Lack of knowledge of mothers in fulfilling food will have an impact on poor nutritional status in toddlers. The purpose of this study was to determine the educational effect of providing supplementary food based on local ingredients on the knowledge of mothers of stunting toddlers using animated video media. The design in this study was pre-experimental type of One Group Pretest-Posttest. The population of all stunted toddler mothers in Pamekasan. The purposive sampling technique with this research sample was 65 stunted toddler mothers in the Pamekasan Region. Data collection using questionnaires and observation sheets. To determine the effect of animation education using Wilcoxon Signed Rank analysis. The results showed that before being given education, some 39 respondents (60%) lacked knowledge, after being given animation educational interventions, the respondents’ knowledge was good, 29 respondents (44.61%). There is an effect of providing education on providing supplemental food based on local ingredients with the knowledge of stunting mothers, p-value=0.00. Education with animated media increases knowledge in providing additional food made from local ingredients, which can be used as an alternative nutritional intake for stunting toddlers.
