Abstract
The meteorological structure and transport mechanism of long-range transport of air pollutants from the coastal region around Tokyo Bay, Japan, to the mountainous inland area were investigated over a five-day period using joint field observation data. This article describes geological features and data analysis, movement of high concentration zones of pollutants, the combination process of the local wind systems and the formation of a large wind system, and the thermal effect of the mountainous region and generation of a thermal low. The transport mechanism and transformation of air pollutants during transport are discussed. (J.M.M.)
