Abstract

This paper attempts to provide knowledge about how young high school students from popular sectors give meaning to their school experience and how they take a stance on the notion of the future. It is qualitative research, located in high schools in a vulnerable area of Rosario, Santa Fe, República Argentina, that aims to investigate, on the one hand, the appreciation of adolescents regarding their educational careers and, on the other hand, the job, educational and social expectations that help to find the way towards the future. The methodology consisted of an exploratory work that combined three individual and group data collection techniques: the open questionnaire, the focus group, and spontaneous conversation. The results highlight the evaluations carried out on the school as a place of learning and sociability, as well as the heterogeneity of meanings about the future.
