Abstract
Geographic Information System (GIS) integration for real-time spatial monitoring of Field Experience Practices (PPL) in higher education is still rarely applied, so data collection, attendance, and supervision are still mostly manual and less efficient. This research aims to develop Smart-PPL, a GIS-based system with the Laravel framework, which maps the location of partner schools and location-based attendance to support real-time monitoring. The system was developed using the Research and Development (R&D) method with an Agile approach, including analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Analysis was conducted through interviews and observations; design included Use Case Diagram, ERD, and UI/UX; implementation was integrated with Google Maps API and LeafletJS; testing included black box testing, validity testing by three experts, and practicality and effectiveness by 22 users (lecturers, supervisors, students). Results show the system is valid (Aiken's V = 0.89), highly practical (moment Kappa = 0.9377), and highly effective (N-Gain = 0.94). GIS integration improves the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of PPL supervision. Scientifically, this research contributes to the application of usability and information efficiency theories in spatial-based educational information systems. Scientifically, Smart-PPL can be used as a replication model for other universities to support digitization and optimization of integrated PPL activity supervision.
