Abstract

A new species, Begonia ziroensis D.Borah, Taram & M.Hughes is described herein based on collections made in Ziro Valley of Lower Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is distinct from all other species in the region in having a combination of small deeply lobed leaves with very dense fleshy short hairs covering the ovary. Another species, Begonia siamensis, collected from Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh is newly recorded for the flora of India.
