Abstract

The presence of carotenoids in Decapoda‐Orconectes limosus (Raf.) was studied. In extracts from carapace Orconectes limosus1 separated by means of column and thin‐layer chromatography, the following carotenoids were identified: β‐carotene, echinenone, lutein (epoxide and ester), astaxanthin (free and ester) and one unknown xanthophyll.
