Abstract

We present a model absorption potential for the calculation of cross sections for the scattering of positrons from various atomic targets. Our model, which is free of any adjustable parameters, is analogous to the quasifree scattering model which has been used by other investigations for the scattering of electrons from rare gases. As a test of the proposed model we use it to calculate total and differential cross sections for positrons scattered from various rare gas targets.
