Abstract

High genotypic coefficients of variation were observed in 36 cotton genotypes for seed cotton yield/plant, bolls/plant and sympodia/plant. High heritability values were observed for most characters except ginning outturn and fibre fineness. High heritability coupled with high genetic advances were exhibited by plant height, bolls/plant and seed cotton yield. High heritability appeared to be due to additive gene effects.
