Abstract

This study investigates the evolution of experiential programs (EPs) within luxury resort environments. Though extant literature indicates a correlation between guest experiences and self-actualization within the context of luxury resort environments, there remains a significant gap in research that explicitly examines experiential programming, within this framework. The research employs a semi-structured interview framework to evaluate the relationship between EPs and guests’ self-actualization during luxury resort stays. Data were collected through interviews with five guests from luxury resorts in North America. The findings demonstrate that EPs substantially contribute to guests’ self-actualization with enduring feelings of self-actualization that persisted long after their departure. Participants highlighted essential elements including tranquillity, immersion, freedom, engagement, and innovation as critical determinants facilitating their journey towards self-actualization.
