Abstract
Prognosis of medulloblastoma has improved over the last two decades, for several reasons, such as early diagnosis, aggressive chemotherapeutic protocols and craniospinal irradiation. However, surgery still retains a key role in the management of these tumors, so much that extent of surgical resection is one of the main factors affecting the prognosis and contributing in categorizing patients in standard risk or in high risk. Residual tumor after resection greater than 1.5 mm3 may lead to a worse prognosis.
